  • Description: dark purple wings. broad black/dark border. orange spots on lower outer edge of each wing. hindwings have thin hair-like tail.
  • Wingspan: 1.25 to 1.5 inches
  • Flight Period: June-August
  • Nectar Sources: Gambrel oak, other oak trees
  • Host Plants: Oak trees (esp. Gambrel). Feed on tree sap and honeydew from insects
