What do I do with a new born Monarch Butterfly?

I found a cocoon of a monarch butterfly and I thought it would be cool to watch it hatch. I got it all on video and it was amazing! Now that it’s hatched, I decided to let it go. Since it was just born, it can’t really walk or anything so it’s just sitting there. It is raining outside and I didn’t know if I should let the butterfly go now, or wait until the rain stops. But, maybe I should let it go because it can probably handle the rain. But, it’s so sad to watch the poor butterfly sitting there getting soaked and blown around by the wind… What should I do?!?!?

Wait till it stops raining to let it go.

Wait till it stops raining. In the meantime fill a brand new piece of sponge with sugar water and put it in with the butterfly. This will act like nectar and will work for a few days but it doesn’t have enough nutrients to keep it healthy for any longer than that.
