    It is in the order lepidoptera and the family nymphalidae.

    The Viceroy is the bitter tasting evil twin of the Monarch butterfly. Since birds dislike the taste of the Viceroy, and the Monarch and Viceroy look alike, birds don’t eat the Monarch butterfly either. So the coincidence of their similar appearance is beneficial to the Monarch.
